THE IMPORTANCE OF A NEWBORN PHOTOSHOOT
With a baby on the way, or even just arrived, there are so many important details that need your attention… the doctors and midwives, the un-finished nursery, the endless amount of relatives wanting to visit, the ‘how on earth do I look after this tiny human being’ feelings.
It’s sometimes easy to overlook the importance of capturing this exciting, new time in your life. But just for a second, right now, stop any multi-tasking, list-making, or worrying, and give some thought to truly remembering this part of life with a newborn photoshoot.

BUMP TO BABY PORTRAITS
It all starts with you… Celebrate and embrace your journey of motherhood.
Professionally capturing that special bond between a mother and her unborn child is something we strive to deliver.
We love seeing all the incredible emotions of an expecting mother through our photography. We are able to artistically and creatively produce beautiful images that encompass the joy, love and anticipation between parents and their unborn child.
We recommend that the ideal time to have a photography session with your bump is between 34-36 weeks. At this stage of your pregnancy, you will usually be showing a lovely round bump!
Our pregnancy photoshoots are always arranged over 2 shoots. The first is the bump shoot and the second is the newborn shoot, usually within the first 2 weeks of the baby’s birth. Over the years, we’ve learned that this is the best way for our clients to get the most out of their exclusive experience. The images from both photoshoots are shown together in one viewing appointment a week later.
Bump to baby packages can be purchased on our website or over the phone with us. They are an amazing experience and make a fantastic baby shower gift too!
WHEN IS THE IDEAL TIME FOR A BABY PHOTOSHOOT?
For our newborn photography shoots, we recommend you bring your baby along when they are 6-14 days old. It’s during this time that they are able to sleep more soundly and curl up easily into adorably snug poses. Babies change dramatically, even just a week after birth, making it an extra special time to capture your new baby’s precious and delicate features as soon as possible.
Our shoots can last an hour and a half which ensures your photographer has enough time to take the best possible pictures while your baby can sleep soundly, feed, have a nappy change and receive plenty of cuddles!
Other family members are also more than welcome to come along and take part in the shoot. This can be an amazing opportunity to involve grandparents and other close relatives.
To avoid disappointment, we would suggest that you contact us a couple of weeks before your due date. This will allow us to book you in for a suitable time and date if baby arrives according to plan!
If your baby is slightly older than the ideal newborn stage then please feel free to give us a call and we can best advise on your situation, we’re always happy to help!
BABIES AGED 6 MONTHS +
The next recommended time frame for bringing in your baby would be at the sitting-up stage which is usually at 6-8 months old.
During this age, babies have developed in size and strength, along with a great personality that makes for a fantastic photograph opportunity!
Coming in with your baby at a later stage will mean that your photographer will be able to focus on documenting their growing character and those beautiful, cheeky expressions!
Your photographer will also be able to better document all the natural interactions between yourself and your baby, as they stare up at you, smile with you or tightly grip your fingers.
